Glad I Followed My Gut

“Ma’am, ma’am, can you help me?” the woman called to me from across the parking lot.
She asked if I had a cell phone. “Could you call a cab for me? I missed my bus, and I can’t walk all the way to my apartment with these groceries.”
She had a small rolling walker which held inexpensive groceries piled in the small basket. She was sweating and clearly in poor health. “I will pay you to call a cab for me.” "Where is your apartment?" I asked. It was only about 15 minutes away. "Get in the car. I will take you."
It was at that moment that I realized why I needed to get the keyboard out of my backseat before I walked downtown. I had argued with that gentle guidance within, but it’s pretty outside and I wanted to get on to the park. Ok, fine, I will unload a few things first. My trunk was full of speakers and gear, but since I dropped some things off at the hotel, there was just enough room in the backseat to fold her walker. I had emptied the very full front seat, which meant she could ride with me.
As she left, she said, “What can I pay you?” and I replied, “Absolutely nothing!” She had explained her story as we rode together, and I felt sad for her journey. She said, “You have absolutely no idea how much you have helped me.” I was smiling inside and grateful that I had followed my gut inclination to clean out my car as it was in order to welcome the stranger and treat her as my neighbor and my friend.
When I remember to start my day with, “Who are the three people I can bless today?” it always boomerangs back to feed my spirit. She was definitely one of the three on my list today.

Good News!
I just finished recording four songs and a video last week in Virginia. I set a goal to have an EPK (Electronic Press Kit) by Christmas. It looks like my Christmas wish may come early and be a wonderful Thanksgiving blessing.
Thanks for taking the time to read my stories. May you follow your gut and find people to bless today. I look forward to sharing my recordings with you very soon.
