Who’s At Your Table Today?

I wrote the following poem a few minutes ago.

I am off to work at a soup kitchen in Northwest Arkansas.

My intention is to pour out love and truly welcome everyone who enters the door!

Perhaps there might be an “invisible guest” at your Thanksgiving table.

The Invisible Guest

I am at your Thanksgiving table. I am the invisible guest.

With the hustle and bustle of activity

No one even knows I’m here.

Why am I even here?

With the hustle and bustle of activity

It’s easy for me to hide.

Why am I even here?

Can you see me?

It’s easy for me to hide.

Pass the potatoes, please. It’s always a great distraction.

Can you see me?

We focus on the cranberries, the turkey, and the pie.
