The Dreaded Knock

Bam! Bam! Bam! The sound of a fist hitting heavy metal right by my head jolted me awake from a very deep sleep.
My mind rushed, …is this really happening…HERE?!
After the startling jolt from my sleep, I wasn’t the least bit frightened.
In fact, I pulled down the window cover and saw the super clean-cut security officer, I smiled and thought, yippee, another first I can mark off my list.
If you have followed any van life videos, you have no doubt heard about “the knock.” I have been tiptoeing in my journey and staying in very safe places.
This past week, I had the wonderful opportunity of attending the EmPower Music Festival at Unity Village, and it was my very first time to park at night in public places.
The first two nights, I stayed at Terry’s hotel parking lot. We made sure all the windows were covered before he went inside. After he left, I realized, hey, wait a minute, no MaxAir fan or air conditioning if you want to be stealth and avoid the knock…so yes, I chose to sweat it out, and I was just fine.
On the last night, Terry stayed at the Unity Village Hotel, so I parked on campus.
My spirit did a happy dance. I can totally relax! Unity Village is incredibly peaceful and beautiful, and I will not be bothered here at all.
Once the security guard found out I really was with the festival, and that I had already notified the hotel I was staying in my van, everything was just fine.
I have laughed and smiled to myself thinking that I got “the knock” at Unity Village.
I can’t think of a more warm and inviting place to be awakened from a deep sleep.
We had the chance to share “Unconditional Love” at the festival. Here’s a short clip.

There’s A Place
There’s a place and a space for all of us and it certainly doesn’t have to be in a van!
As always, thanks for riding along with me.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my blog.
Love and hugs,
